Medical waste is hazardous waste - high costs result from the production and treatment of medical waste. In most cases, infectious medical waste considered as hazardous waste is incinerated. This results in massive hazardous goods traffic, as medical waste has to be transported to incinerators. According to the statistics, the average transport distance is approximately 350 km. In addition, the treatment in incinerators, specially used to burn this type of waste, does in many cases not meet with the government's objectives to protect the environment.

On-site sterilisation is the solution to these problems - a compact, economic and modular sterilisation system for infectious medical and organic waste: STERIVAL. The STERIVAL system sterilises waste on-site, for example in hospitals, laboratories etc. It is modular and its capacity can therefore be adapted from the beginning to the quantity of waste to be treated or later, by adding modules. STERIVAL can also be used for the disinfection of organic waste, e.g. canteens etc.

Advantages on survey
STERIVAL sterilises on-site infectious waste
STERIVAL is modular by "ADDING"
economic extension modules (up to 3) to the base module. The system configuration can be adapted to the capacity needed. An extension of the capacity is possible at any time.
STERIVAL reduces waste volume by using the separate AZUDA shredder or reduces weight and volume by using the stand-alone STERIFANT shredder.
STERIVAL uses re-usable PC-waste bins type STERIFANT 50 litres

Sterilisation duration and capacities
The duration of the complete sterilisation cycle at 136°C is 25-35 minutes, depending on the waste content of the bins. For in average 12 kg waste/bin, the capacities are:

7 hours
(= 1 Shift)

14 hours
(= 2 Shifts)

yearly
2 Shifts/day
Base module 150 kg 300 kg 75 tons
 Base module +
 1 extension module
300 kg 600 kg 150 tons
 Base module +
 2 extension modules
450 kg 900 kg 225 tons

The STERIVAL system consists of an energy supply module, a base module with one sterilisation chamber and extension modules, each having a sterilisation chamber. By "ADDING" extension modules to the energy module and base module, units of 2 up to 4 sterilisation modules can be assembled.
